Senior Backend Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain server-side systems that power real production products. Tech stacks are secondary — what matters are solid fundamentals, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to make thoughtful architectural decisions under real-world constraints.

Your mission

Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs in production environments
Take ownership of features from architecture through deployment
Work with databases, integrations, and third-party services across client projects
Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability bottlenecks
Contribute to technical decisions and help shape engineering standards
Collaborate closely with other developers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Required experience

Proven production experience building and maintaining backend systems at scale
Strong command of at least one backend language
Solid experience with relational and/or non-relational databases
Proven ability to design and maintain RESTful or GraphQL APIs
Ability to work independently and take full responsibility for delivered work
Clear and constructive communication skills

Nice to have

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Background in microservices or event-driven architectures
Experience with CI/CD pipelines

Languages you should speak

English – required for client communication
Hungarian – required for day-to-day collaboration

What about time zones & communication? +

We overlap 4–6 hours with both EU and US. We run weekly demos, daily async updates, and shared Slack channels.

Do you work under NDAs? +

Yes. We’re happy to sign mutual NDAs and follow your security requirements and procurement processes.

Can you take over an existing codebase? +

Absolutely. We start with a short audit, improve DX, add tests and CI, then plan a safe delivery path.
